A new chapter..
After 15 years at the ABC.. on radio, TV and most recently, leading its XR tech strategy.. today I’m beginning a new role as the Head of Light Speed, a tech start up working alongside the Light foundation.
I’m thrilled with the scope of the challenge ahead. Light is a young organisation, but one with an abundance of exciting ambition and nimble minds. Founder Nick Dunstone and his team are a whirlwind of enthusiasm and tireless determination. What they have already achieved in such a short time is mindblowing. That’s what I’m aiming to live up to.
Light Speed’s mission is to create a venue like no other; one that stretches beyond one location or one medium. It will be a place that blends the physical and the virtual, harnessing the energy that comes from a live crowd to reimagine how we enjoy live music and performance post Covid.
Picture walking into a venue that seems to stretch off in every direction, surrounding you in a vibrant digital landscape that seems to respond to every sound and movement around you. Now imagine thousands of digital avatars, people from all over the world, there live and enjoying the show with you.
A global network of these physical venues, along with a network of digital venues working in parallel, could scale live performance in an industry-altering way.
That’s where we want to get to.
But today, we’re taking our first steps in this space; continuing to put the building blocks of an immersive venue in place while finding ways it can already enhance live performances today, through Virtual Production.

I’d especially like to thank those along the journey that witnessed my wild-eyed enthusiasm for immersive technologies and enabled me to run with it. Stu, Gaven and David; you backed me when it would have been far easier not to. And special thanks to Luke, who worked alongside me through it all, trying to help turn crazy ideas into reality. Much appreciated.
